DirectX

DirectX is an interface between most modern computer games and windows. Upgrading the version of DirectX on your system will allow you to run the latest games with the best possible stability. DirectX is backwards compatible with games written for earlier versions of DirectX. This is a slightly long installation that will ask you to restart your computer after it has completed.

The Registry Cleaner removes unnecessary and outdated entries in the Windows registry. This makes the registry smaller, which means you regain some memory. Also, a smaller registry will increase the responsiveness of Windows.

Power Toys

The Windows shell-development team did some extra programming and put together a set of tools called Power Toys. If you're a power user, go ahead and try them out. This group of "toys" lets you adjust your Windows user interface, including menu speed, window animation, and Microsoft Internet Explorer.

PowerToys are additional programs that developers work on after a product has been released to manufacturing. They add fun and functionality to your amazing Windows experiences. Included in the PowerToys XP:

The Windows XP Screen Saver PowerToy makes it easy to play any Windows Media® Video or series of videos (such as home movies created with Windows Movie Maker 2) as your Windows XP screen saver.

Windows XP Wallpaper Changer PowerToy Make your computer desktop more dynamic, interactive, useful, and fun. The Wallpaper Changer allows your desktop wallpaper to change automatically. It also lets you choose which images to display. Select the folder of images to display as a slide show and set the display interval to change wallpaper every few minutes, hours, or days. The simple intuitive interface is easily available from the system tray.
